For the Indian community in UK

Vedic astrology in UK computed for your real birth time

Home to around 1.28 million people of Indian origin (MEA, Jan 2026) — one of the oldest and most settled Indian diasporas anywhere. Your Kundli is calculated to the minute for your actual birthplace — never assumed to be Indian Standard Time.

The UK birth-time trap

Why most UK charts are quietly wrong

The UK switches between GMT and British Summer Time. A Leicester birth in August was on BST (UTC+1), not GMT — and British birth records almost never say which.

The ascendant moves roughly one degree every four minutes, and a full sign about every two hours. An offset error does not make your reading slightly less accurate — it can put your Lagna, and therefore every house in your chart, in the wrong sign entirely.

Daylight Saving matters here. UK observes DST; India never has. Enter your birth time exactly as recorded — do not convert it yourself. The correct historical offset for your date and city is applied automatically.

What is actually different about UK

Not a general warning — the specific numbers for UK, computed from the same Swiss Ephemeris and timezone database your chart is built with.

The offset moves by 1 hour between winter and summer

A birth on the amber side used an offset India has never used. Enter your birth time exactly as recorded and let the birthplace resolve it — converting to IST yourself is how the offset gets applied twice.

UK's clock has moved before — and a birth before one of these used an offset that no longer exists

Read straight from the IANA timezone database for London, England, not from a table someone typed. A calculator that assumes today's offset applied back then puts an older birth in the wrong Lagna.

A tithi begins and ends at one instant worldwide; what changes is whether the moment the rule points at — sunrise, sunset or moonrise — falls inside it on a given local date. That is why the shift runs opposite to the timezone.

What British Indian families actually ask

Second and third-generation charts
Britain's diaspora is old enough that many charts belong to people born in Leicester or Wembley, not India. The chart is computed for where you were actually born — no assumed Indian coordinates.
Marriage matching across generations abroad
Matching where both families have been in the UK for decades but still keep the 36-point tradition — computed properly for two British birthplaces.
Career and business timing
The 10th-house and dasha windows for a career built entirely outside India, read for your real chart rather than a template.

Matching across two countries

One horoscope born in India, one born in UK? Each is computed in its own real local time before the 36-point Ashtakoot match runs — so the guna score and dosha analysis are correct rather than approximated.

Questions from British Indian readers

Yes. Your chart is computed for the exact coordinates of your birthplace in the United Kingdom and for the real local time that applied there on your birth date. UK moves by 1 hour between winter and summer, so the same clock time means different things in January and July — the table above shows the actual offsets for UK cities. GrahAI resolves this from your birthplace automatically, so your Lagna and house cusps are correct.
