Why most New Zealand charts are quietly wrong
New Zealand runs 6 hours 30 minutes AHEAD of IST in winter (NZST, UTC+12) and 7 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer (NZDT, UTC+13) — one of the few diaspora markets ahead of India rather than behind it. A birth time recorded in November through early April was on NZDT, not NZST, and a chart that assumes the wrong one puts the Lagna in the wrong sign.
The ascendant moves roughly one degree every four minutes, and a full sign about every two hours. An offset error does not make your reading slightly less accurate — it can put your Lagna, and therefore every house in your chart, in the wrong sign entirely.
