Why do these dates differ from other calendars sometimes?
Because a tithi is an angle, not a day. It begins and ends at an instant that is the same worldwide, and the date it governs is the date at whose sunrise it is running — which means a tithi ending shortly after sunrise, or covering two sunrises, has a genuinely contested date. These pages compute the boundary to the second and say when a date is contested rather than picking one silently.
