Ashtakvarga is a Vedic scoring system in which seven planets each contribute benefic points, called bindus, to the twelve signs. Summing them gives the Sarvashtakvarga, or SAV, for each house.

What is a good bindu count?

The total is fixed, so the average works out near 28 per house. Houses above roughly 30 are considered well supported and those below about 24 tend to require more effort. Scores are only meaningful relative to your own chart.

Do I need my birth time for Ashtakvarga?

Yes. Houses are counted from the ascendant, which changes roughly every two hours, so an inaccurate birth time rotates every house score.
