Vedic Astrology Reading — Your Whole Chart, Computed and Read

Most sites that rank for this give you a chart wheel and stop. The ones that go further put you on a waiting list for a human astrologer at several times the price of a report, delivered by email in a week. This computes the whole chart from your exact birth moment and reads it in full — and you can read the first chapter before deciding anything.

Your own, or someone else’s — enter their name and their birth details.

What "a reading" should actually contain

The word does a lot of work in this market, and it is worth being specific about what separates the versions of it you will find.

A chart is not a reading. Free generators — and there are many, and most of the page-one results for this phrase are exactly this — compute your positions and draw the grid. That is the arithmetic, and it is genuinely the hard part to get right, but it is not an interpretation. You are handed a table of longitudes and left to do the work.

A sun-sign write-up is not a reading either. If the output would be true for everyone born in the same month, nothing in it was read off your chart.

A real reading names the placement, then says what follows from it, then says when. So: the ascendant and its lord, and where that lord went. All nine grahas by sign, house and dignity — exalted, debilitated, in its own sign, combust. The twelve houses and which lord rules each. Your Moon's nakshatra to the degree, because the Vimshottari dasha sequence is computed from its exact longitude, not from your Moon sign. The divisional charts that matter for the question you came with: D-9 navamsa for marriage and for a planet's underlying strength, D-10 dasamsa for the profession itself rather than the promise of one.

And dates. A reading that never commits to a window is not risking anything, and a claim that cannot be wrong carries no information.

Sidereal, and why your sign may not be the one you know

Vedic astrology is sidereal: the zodiac is anchored to the fixed stars. Western astrology is tropical: 0° Aries is pinned to the March equinox.

Those two agreed roughly seventeen centuries ago. The Earth's axial precession has pulled them about 24 degrees apart since, widening by around 50 arcseconds a year. The offset is the ayanamsa, and the Lahiri value — the Indian government standard — is what is used here.

Twenty-four degrees is most of a sign. The practical result is that roughly 80% of people have a different Sun sign in the two systems: a tropical Leo is very often a sidereal Cancer. This is the single most common reason someone concludes Vedic astrology "got it wrong". It did not. It is measuring against the constellations the Sun is actually in front of, which is what jyotish has always done.

Neither system is a corruption of the other. What produces nonsense is mixing their outputs — reading a tropical Sun sign against Vedic dasha timing, for instance.

Born in India, living abroad — the error that moves every house

This is the one worth checking before you trust any chart, and it is the most common defect we see in charts people bring us.

Houses are cut from the exact moment and place of birth. The ascendant advances a full degree roughly every four minutes, so a chart assembled on the wrong clock does not shift slightly — it moves house boundaries, and every planet's house placement with them, and the dasha dates that follow from the Moon's longitude.

Two specific traps for anyone whose birth and current life are in different countries. A birth in India assembled on the wrong offset: India has used +5:30 since 1955, but Calcutta and Bombay ran their own local times earlier, and 1941–45 carried a wartime shift. Software that assumes a flat +5:30 for a 1948 birth is wrong before it starts. A birth abroad assembled on IST: if your details were once entered into an Indian tool that assumed India, a birth in New Jersey or London was silently converted, and everything downstream inherited it.

Here the UTC offset is derived from the coordinates and the IANA timezone database as it stood on your birth date — historical rule changes included — rather than assumed. It is the same computation that makes a festival fall on a different day where you live than it does where your family lives.

What this costs, and what you get before you pay

A live consultation with a US-based Vedic astrologer costs several times what a written reading does, runs 60 to 90 minutes, and is usually booked weeks out. That is a genuinely different product and for some questions it is the right one — a conversation can follow you where a document cannot.

What a document does better is stay. You can re-read the dasha timeline in three years when the window it named actually arrives, and check whether it was right.

The first chapter is free and it is not a sample of someone else's chart — it is computed from your birth details, and it names dates you can hold the rest of the reading to. Read it, then decide. The full report runs 30+ pages, is delivered as a PDF you keep, and is generated in about two minutes rather than emailed in a week.

The complete reading is the Lifetime Map

Every life domain plus the decade-by-decade dasha roadmap from birth to about 75, read against the strength of the house each dasha lord governs. Career and wealth together across the full sequence — the one place in the catalogue that shows both — marriage read from the D-9 rather than the D-1 alone, and the profession read from the D-10. 50+ pages, delivered as a PDF in about two minutes.
